Longitudinal cowls are made of aluminium sheet (NOPxAL) and stainless-steel sheet (NOPxN). They may only be used within ventilation chimneys. Their aim is to create a vacuum in the ventilation duct supporting the chimney draught. The cowls also prevent back draught, and protect ventilation ducts against atmospheric precipitation.
